Skills required include but are not limited to: administration of blood and blood products, arterial line management, bubble CPAP, central line care and blood draws, conscious sedation, developmental care, high frequency ventilation, IV vasopressors, management of chest tubes, neonatal dosage calculations, nitric oxide, oscillators, UAC/UVC management, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP). The unit specializes in the care of micro preemies as young as 22 weeks gestational age through post term, offering comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and interpretation services.
