Responsibilities include differentiating instruction based upon student learning styles, utilizing data information systems and engaging in data analysis to formulate action plans to support students, participating in the Committee on Special Education process, Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal writing, implementation, and progress monitoring, providing special education students with learning experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth in the least restrictive environment, developing and/or modifying curriculum, preparing lessons, and providing specially designed instruction to address individual student needs, knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding special education and students, and the ability to engage culturally diverse students. In-depth knowledge of effective interventions, the ability to work effectively with a variety of staff, strong communication skills, proven success working with students, and strong organizational and planning skills are essential.
