The Charlotte Lab School Director of Athletics + Student Life will have responsibilities in support of Lab’s wellness & culture vision: Provide oversight for the development and implementation of the K-12 clubs and activities program, to include athletics, chess, arts, and other programming; Oversee student-led programming, including clubs and electives, which may include the teaching and/or facilitation of an elective class; Develop, facilitate and oversee student leadership activities, including student government activities for middle and high school students, as well as activities that partner middle and high school students with primary and lower school students; Teach up to 2 daily elective or proctoring blocks with students, as directed by School Director (5-8 or 9-12); Serve as Lab’s Athletic Director, to include: Schedule and communicate practice and game competitions across three seasons of play (via community partners and interscholastic collaboration); Manage the purchase, maintenance, inventorying, and replacement of team equipment and apparel; Attend all home contests and/or arrange for proper supervision by administrative personnel; Manage the use of athletics facilities in the school and secure/coordinate the use of external facilities as needed; Execute game management for all home interscholastic contests and when admission is charged, secure the safekeeping and deposit of collected funds; Secure and arrange transportation, facilities, meals, and lodging for interscholastic competitions as needed; Hire and evaluate coaches, in concert with the Head of People Operations; Manage budget to ensure the solvency and sustainability of program, Complete an annual review of the Lab Athletics Handbook, Coaches’ Agreement, and other forms to ensure the highest quality of safety and compliance; Remain continually abreast of and ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, and safety protocols that guide the execution of youth sports at local, state, and national levels., including NCHSAA, NCDPI, NFHS, and any affiliated community-based organizations; Maintain a permanent file of players, medical examinations, insurance forms, records, parent consent forms, payments, etc. Demonstrate commitment to Lab’s vision, mission, and growth; Demonstrate professional demeanor, strong self-confidence; Possess excellent written communication skills; Possess excellent interpersonal skills, with diverse students, colleagues, and families; Desire to work collaboratively with others in all aspects of the role; Display unquestioned integrity, strong judgment, and decision-making skills; Demonstrate ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, start-up environment both independently and as part of a team.
