Under the general supervision of the Director, Facilities Planning, Construction and Sustainability, to assist in the coordination and support of new construction, remodeling, and renovation in accordance with contract drawings and specifications for the district's existing and new structures. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, students, representatives from outside agencies and the general public.

Under the general supervision of the Director, Facilities Planning, Construction and Sustainability, to assist in the coordination and support of new construction, remodeling, and renovation in accordance with contract drawings and specifications for the district's existing and new structures. Work is generally diversified requiring judgment, analysis and decision-making according to established practices and procedures. Supervision received is general. Collaboration and teamwork is needed with the Construction Manager and other involved personnel. Daily responsibilities are completed independently using established policies and general objectives with interaction with supervisor limited to problems or unusual conditions. Characteristics and Duties: <ol><li>Assists with the development and review of the front end bidding documents. </li><li>Schedules and conducts contract bid openings. </li><li>Prequalifies contractors for bidding purposes and maintains database. </li><li>Prepares and processes construction contracts. </li><li>Provides support of development and review of professional agreements including major maintenance repair service. </li><li>Processes change orders and contractor payment applications and checks for compliance. </li><li>Continuously adjusts general condition language to align with the project management process. </li><li>Provides support for contract claims. </li><li>Provides overall coordination of the contractor prequalification process. </li><li>Interprets construction contract and professional agreement terms and conditions. </li><li>Serves as a liaison with compliance agencies and coordinates Minority Business Enterprise and Women Business Enterprise (MBE/WBE/ DBE) Program. </li><li>Educates contractors on college and state contractual requirements to ensure established goals are met. </li><li>Leads outreach initiatives with the construction community in order to maintain relationships with and solicit feedback from contractors, suppliers, and vendors. </li><li>Administers the contractor evaluation process. </li><li>Reviews policies and documents to ensure consistency with evolving industry standards and practices. </li><li>Supports requisition, invoice review and processing. </li><li>Other related duties as assigned. </li><li> </li></ol> Qualifications: Required Education: <ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering or related field. </li><li> </li></ul>Required Experience:<ul><li>Three (3) years of related work experience in construction renovation and maintenance projects. </li><li>Preferred Experience: Five (5) years of experience in related activities. </li><li> </li></ul>Preferred License/Certification:<ul><li>Certified Construction Contract Administration (CCCA) certification is desirable, or ability to obtain within 12 months </li><li> </li></ul>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities<ul><li>Thorough knowledge of building, safety, and related codes, ordinances, and regulations. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of owner-A/E and owner-contractor agreements and AIA standard forms. </li><li>Understanding of standard project forms, particularly conditions of the contract and the underlying principles of contract law. </li><li>Working knowledge of construction materials, construction trades, means and methods, and the relationships between subcontractors, suppliers, and manufacturers. </li><li>Knowledge of the codes and regulations that govern the project. </li><li>Knowledge and ability to use computers applications including Microsoft Office Suite software. </li><li>Deadline and detail-oriented, with strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills. </li><li>Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate communications. </li><li>Strong self-motivation and ability to work as a team member. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, students, representatives from outside agencies and the general public. </li><li>Ability to understand, interpret and explain rules, regulations, procedures, and written and oral instructions. </li><li>Ability to effectively represent MATC's interests as that of the construction owner. </li><li>Ability to be open-minded, fair, and responsive. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment. </li><li> </li></ul>Physical Demands<ul><li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., carry, and push up to 20 lbs. and ability pull up to 50 lbs. </li><li>Ability to climb stairs and a ladder and maintain balance. </li><li>Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, hear and speak. </li><li>Sitting/Standing/Walking: 75% of time spent sitting, 20% of time standing, and 5% of time walking. </li></ul>
