This part-time internship is designed for law students seeking hands-on experience in civil rights enforcement and case management. Interns work under the supervision of full-time Commission staff, who assign cases, provide guidance, and ensure professional development opportunities. Examples Of Duties Key Responsibilities: Receive, review, and document civil rights complaints submitted to the Commission under local, state, and federal law.Conduct intake interviews with complainants to gather information, clarify concerns, and determine eligibility for Commission review.Assist full-time staff in organizing and maintaining case files, records, and documentation.Prepare summaries of intake interviews and case materials to support investigations and mediations.Provide information to the public regarding civil rights processes, resources, and procedures.Support outreach and education initiatives, including preparing materials or assisting in workshops.Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.Participate in training and mentorship opportunities provided by the Commission. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Current enrollment in an accredited law school.Interest in civil rights, equal opportunity, or social justice law.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow guidance from supervising staff.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in legal research, administrative support, mediation, or community engagement.Bilingual proficiency (Spanish, Vietnamese, or other languages relevant to the community).Familiarity with civil rights laws, regulations, or complaint procedures. All services provided by the intern will be reviewed by the Supervisor including written work (i.e. assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes) and interactions with clients.

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>The student intern works under the direct supervision of the Organization’s Qualified Site Supervisor.  </li><li>All services provided by the intern will be reviewed by the Supervisor including written work (i.e. assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes) and interactions with clients.  </li><li>The student intern will engage in a variety of clinical and non-clinical activities related to their specific discipline and consistent with their individual learning contract.</li><li>Carries case list made up of mostly individual therapy clients, with opportunities to work with couples/families/groups as interested</li><li>Will receive clinical supervision from an appropriate independently licensed staff member weekly per requirements</li></ul>
