The Director of Education role oversees student programs from initial parent interest through program completion, including diagnostic assessment, program development and delivery, ongoing conferences with parents, communication with classroom teachers, and progress assessments. Sylvan Learning provides personalized educational tutoring to K-12 students in the areas of math, reading, writing, study skills, homework support, and SAT/ACT prep.

<p>Sylvan Learning of Mount Dora & Tavares is currently hiring a part-time Director of Education. The core hours include 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at least two weekdays each week, as well as, at least two Saturdays per month from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. This position could lead to a full-time role, if desired. Sylvan Learning provides personalized educational tutoring to K-12 students in the areas of math, reading, writing, study skills, homework support, and SAT/ACT prep. </p><p>The Director of Education role oversees student programs from initial parent interest through program completion, including diagnostic assessment, program development and delivery, ongoing conferences with parents, communication with classroom teachers, and progress assessments. When the Center Director is unavailable or not in the Center, the Director of Education serves as the point-of-contact for customers and manages Center operations. The Director of Education also communicates with the Center Director regularly to ensure quality and consistency of the customer experience. The ideal candidate will have an education background, have a natural customer-service-oriented focus, be coachable in financial and sales areas, and find joy in helping students achieve success!</p><p><strong>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</strong></p><ul><li>Observe and coach instructional staff on a regular basis to ensure that teachers follow Sylvan’s Instructional Management guidelines and deliver instructional sessions that are balanced and robust </li><li>Manage and deliver conference activities such as preparing conference materials and meeting with parents to keep families informed of progress and enrolled in Sylvan</li><li>Select, hire, train, and motivate all certified teachers and staff </li><li>Ensure initial and ongoing progress assessments are administered according to Sylvan standards</li><li>Ensure that all staff who administer assessments are properly trained and certified</li><li>Motivate and develop staff by providing ongoing learning opportunities </li><li>Establish and maintain ongoing communication with classroom teachers to ensure Sylvan programs meet student and family needs and foster positive community relationships. This may involve school visits.</li><li>Teaching during instructional hours - approximately 20-50% of the time, as needed.</li><li>Contribute to center profitability by controlling labor budget through managing instructor staffing levels and schedules</li><li>Partner with Center Director to run day-to-day operations including customer account management </li><li>Check students in and out of the Center with particular attention to student safety and well-being.</li><li>Greet and assist students, parents, and potential customers according to Sylvan standards.</li></ul><p><strong>KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field</li><li>State teaching credentials</li><li>Knowledge of current educational policy and Florida Standards</li><li>Minimum of two years of teaching experience; Experience in supervisory role preferred</li><li>Previous retail and/or sales experience </li><li>Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and other standard business applications used by the Center</li><li>Sales and marketing experience preferred, with a strong focus on customer service </li><li>Experience using social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) preferred</li></ul><p><strong>SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED</strong></p><ul><li>Proven ability to supervise, coach, and develop teachers/instructional staff</li><li>Proven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn</li><li>Extremely organized and detail oriented; Proven ability to multi task and be flexible</li><li>Willing to lift boxes, clean floors, and hold doors if that is what is needed for the team</li><li>Is always learning, growing, and being stretched </li><li>Desires to be a part of something larger than themselves</li><li>Strong analytical and problem solving skills </li><li>Strong organizational skills; Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize</li><li>Self-sufficiency in ownership of work and tasks</li><li>Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively; Strong team player who leads by example</li><li>Ability to work a flexible schedule, including frequent evenings and weekends</li></ul><p>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.  They are not intended to be a complete list of all job responsibilities or skills, knowledge and abilities required.</p><p>Choosing Sylvan is about getting results and setting your child up for long-term success. The primary purpose of our Veterinary Student Externship is to provide a hands-on learning experience for 3rd and 4th year students who are enrolled in a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. They will be expected to perform in-house diagnostic tests (hematology, chemistry, and radiology) with competence, perform routine client education, and to assist in surgical procedures.

<h3>Description</h3><br/><div>The primary purpose of our <strong>Veterinary Student Externship</strong> is to provide a hands-on learning experience for 3rd and 4th year students who are enrolled in a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. The program is typically scheduled for 2-week blocks at our hospital. We feel that the students who possess an open mind and a willingness to learn will benefit the most from our externship.</div><br/><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><br/><div>The <strong>Veterinary Student Extern</strong> is responsible for performing inpatient and outpatient medical care under the direct supervision of our veterinary staff. They will be expected to perform in-house diagnostic tests (hematology, chemistry, and radiology) with competence, perform routine client education, and to assist in surgical procedures. </div><br/><h3>Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise</h3><br/><div>Participants in the Veterinary Extern Program must currently be enrolled in an AVMA-accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program. </div>
