This position is based in Wenatchee, Washington.   The Migrant Student Engagement Coordinator supports migrant student access across the ESD 171 region by leading student engagement, leadership development, and graduation readiness initiatives. This position provides training, coaching, and technical assistance to Migrant Student Advocates (MSA) and Migrant Graduation Specialists (MGS) to strengthen services and support systems for migratory students and families. The coordinator collaborates with OSPI, school districts, community organizations, and regional partners to expand leadership opportunities, support implementation of High School & Beyond Plans (HSBP), and promote college, career, and postsecondary readiness. The role emphasizes culturally responsive practices, family engagement, and systems development to improve educational outcomes for migratory students. <div id="divJobDetails">Position Summary:The Freeman School District is seeking an experienced and student-centered leader to serve as the Director of Student Services. The Director of Student Services is a district-level director responsible for leading and coordinating comprehensive student support services across all Freeman schools (TK-12). This includes oversight of Special Education, McKinney-Vento (homeless services), Highly Capable (Gifted) programs, Title I and LAP (Learning Assistance Program), Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS), Truancy Intervention, and Threat Assessment processes. The Director works to ensure equitable educational access and success for all students, particularly those requiring specialized services. This position supervises and evaluates certificated and classified staff in student services roles, ensuring high-quality instruction and support aligned with district goals and legal mandates.  This position reports to the Superintendent.   This role is integral to the district’s commitment to inclusive education, equity, and student well-being. Essential Responsibilities:<ul><li>Direct the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of all student support services, ensuring alignment with district vision, equity goals, and legal mandates.</li><li>Oversee all facets of Special Education services, including Individualized Education Programs (IEP's), transition planning, related services (SLP, OT, PT), and least restrictive environment practices.</li><li>Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, including IDEA, Section 504, Title III, McKinney-Vento Act, WACs, and RCWs.</li><li>Supervise and assist in evaluating special education teachers, school psychologist, SLP, occupational therapist, physical therapist, and paraeducators in the special education department, ensuring quality service delivery and adherence to professional standards.</li><li>Provide ongoing professional development aligned with evidence-based practices in special education, trauma-informed care, inclusive instruction, cultural competence, de-escalation strategies, and compliance requirements.</li><li>Coordinate McKinney-Vento identification, support services, and student advocacy.</li><li>Oversee Title I and LAP services, ensuring programs are data-driven and aligned with student achievement goals.</li><li>Coordinate with the Director of Finance to oversee categorical funding compliance, budgeting, reporting and grant management activities.</li><li>Participate as an active member of the Freeman Leadership Team, contributing to district-level planning, school improvement, and student success initiatives.</li><li>Collaborate with building principals, instructional staff, and families to design effective systems of support for students.</li><li>Serve as a liaison with OSPI, ESD, and community agencies to support service delivery and compliance.</li><li>Lead with integrity, compassion, and a focus on continuous improvement</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications:<ul><li>Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, Counseling, Educational Leadership, or related field</li><li>Valid Washington State Administrative Credential (or ability to obtain)</li><li>Five (5) or more years of successful educational experience, including experience with student services or special education</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal laws and requirements related to IDEA, Section 504, McKinney-Vento, and Title/LAP</li><li>Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>District-level or building-level administrative experience</li><li>Experience working with diverse student populations and inclusive education practices</li><li>Background in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), PBIS, and/or trauma-informed practices</li><li>Experience supervising both certificated and classified staff</li></ul>To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
