Responsibilities: This position directly conducts and supervises human subjects research from recruitment to follow-up, interacting with research participants, and the supervision of undergraduate students/HSRC 1s interested in the Sheftall lab at the URMC Department of Psychiatry. Supervisory duties: Trains new research staff members and student employees on the activities associated with conducting human subject research specific to study protocols and in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCPs) guidelines and sponsor requirements.
Responsibilities include performing experiments by following established protocols under direct supervision, including mouse tissue harvest, sample processing (e.g., homogenization or single cell isolation for flow cytometry), CFU assays, PCR and gel electrophoresis, and cell culture. Performs isolation of bone marrow cells from mice for co-culture experiments utilizing cell differentiation and MACS methods according to established protocols and under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator and/or senior lab personnel.
