Assessments</li><li>Machine Safety</li><li>Safety Process Improvement</li><li>Radiation Safety</li></ul>RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Help develop and implement innovative H&S programs and strategies in the areas of Injury Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP), hazard communication/chemical management, occupational health programs, safety management systems, process safety and risk management, industrial hygiene assessments, and technical support.</li><li>Identify and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and industry best practices.</li><li>Assist with collection, review, and analysis of field data to evaluate conditions, present information, and implement effective solutions.</li><li>Support our clients desire to improve safety performance by providing training, field coaching, and targeted EHS assessments.</li><li>Participate as an enthusiastic team member on various project teams and effectively complete assignments.</li><li>Help/assist early career staff learn and grow as safety professionals through frequent internal and external training as well as exposure to interesting projects and advanced experiences.</li><li>Spend time onsite with clients throughout Southern California (Los Angeles, Orange County, Anaheim, etc.) and based on business needs throughout California and Arizona to help solve their most pressing H&S challenges. </li><li>Assist the world’s most innovative companies develop solutions to complex technical and regulatory issues and concerns.</li><li>Develop an understanding of how your work affects our clients’ business objectives and help them achieve these objectives.</li><li>Build client relationships and nurture repeat business by continuously striving to exceed their expectations.</li><li>Begin to build a network within and outside of ERM that will enable you to leverage and develop your skills and help solve challenging multi-disciplinary client challenges.</li><li>Be an active team member on projects.</li><li>Ensure quality standards on project deliverables.</li><li>Build strong collaborative relationships with our clients and other ERM employees.</li></ul>REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>Bachelor degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Engineering or related science degree.</li><li>4+ years relevant experience with broad exposure to the technology, pharmaceutical/biotech, manufacturing, power, chemical, and/or oil and gas sectors.</li><li>Knowledge of California regulations and local, state and federal EHS regulations.</li><li>Ability to travel within Southern California (Los Angeles, Orange County, Anaheim, etc.) and based on business needs travel outside of the Southern California area.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively.</li><li>Ability to work independently and in a team setting.</li><li>Effectively and succinctly, communicate with clients, ERM employees, and vendors.</li><li>Good team player, especially during challenging situations. </li><li>Strong work ethic with a passion to learn, grow, and thrive.</li><li>Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area. </li><li>This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.</li></ul>PREFERRED:<ul><li>Master degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Engineering or related science degree.</li><li>Experience managing direct reports and/or project staff, scoping and managing project budgets annual base pay of $100,474 – $127,553USD.  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above.  This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus. (ERM) is seeking a motivated Principal Consultant, Air Quality - Engineering / Scientist to join the ERM team in Irvine, CA or Denver, CO.  This is a partner-track opportunity for an air quality professional looking to further advance their career with a global environmental leader and to make a significant impact in successfully implementing ERM's global strategy.ERM’s Air Quality Service Area is a recognized leader in the marketplace. The ideal candidate will be well connected in the regulatory and air permitting community and have established relationships with manufacturing, technology, oil & gas, and/or chemical companies to expand our corporate and facility-level compliance services in the sector of the candidate’s expertise in California and the Southwest. Responsibilities:<ul><li>Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic market/business plan, provide leadership, and deliver financial results to expand ERM's Air Quality Service Area and client base, particularly in the manufacturing, technology, oil & gas, and/or chemical sectors.  Serve as a key member of the “core” technical team to drive double-digit profitable growth of ERM’s air quality services across North America.</li><li>Serve as a Senior expert for strategic air permits and compliance programs for a variety of industrial clients with complex technical/regulatory issues. </li><li>Work closely with clients and develop strong relationships to understand specific processes and develop a permitting and compliance strategy to help clients maintain maximum operating flexibility. Achieve client’s expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.</li><li>Manage project deliverables, budgets, and schedules as a lead for our existing teams.</li><li>As a “seller/doer,” contribute to expanding ERM’s air consulting and compliance services annually.  Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take an active leadership role in the development of new business with new and existing clients. Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business.</li><li>Capitalize on existing client relationships to expand ERM’s profile and market share in the regional air quality market and other service-line offerings through a combination of excellence in technical delivery and business development.</li><li>Mentor junior and mid-level staff in the proper planning and execution of air quality projects, and in directing or conducting independent technical reviews of work products.</li><li>Support the general growth and development of ERM’s Global Air Quality Services. </li><li>Collaborate with other ERM global practitioners to execute air quality projects, including participating on teams comprised of air quality professionals from multiple offices around the global organization. </li><li>Develop a working understanding of ERM’s other consulting service areas and actively support cross selling these services to existing clients.</li></ul>Requirements:<ul><li>Bachelors in chemical, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental science or related degree. Or equivalent experience. </li><li>6+ years of relevant experience.</li><li>Experience and knowledge of local, state, and federal air regulations.</li><li>Ability to lead and grow the business in a dynamic market environment.</li><li>Advanced expertise in air permitting and climate change.</li><li>Strong track record of managing project deliverables, schedule, and budgets.</li><li>In-depth understanding of the manufacturing, oil & gas, technology, and chemical industries in California and the companies operating in this sector, including existing relationships that can be leveraged into new business.</li><li>Consistent "seller/doer" track record, including successfully winning large and strategic projects.</li><li>An established reputation in the local marketplace and recognized technical expertise in one of ERM’s existing service offerings, which include, but are not limited to air quality and climate change, environmental, health, and safety compliance assurance, process safety, sustainability, and environmental permitting.</li><li>Ability to build, coach, and mentor collaborative teams.</li><li>Excellent communication (written/verbal), strategic thinking, negotiation, presentation, and “people” skills.</li><li>Positive outlook, collaborative, and driven by the success of ERM as a global company.</li></ul>Preferred: <ul><li>8+ years experience of solid air quality consulting experience, with a high degree of technical competence in Title V, PSD, NSR, BACT, and MACT.</li><li>Certification in field: P.E., CSP, CHMM, or similar registration.</li><li>Familiarity with stack testing and ambient air measurements.</li><li>Advanced expertise in other environmental compliance-related areas for example: air dispersion modeling, stormwater, Spill Preventions, Control, and Countermeasure Plans, waste, water resources, Risk Management Planning, California Environmental Quality Act permitting, multi-media auditing, etc.</li></ul>For the Principal Consultant, Air Quality - Engineering / Scientist position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $122,612- $166,230 USD.  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above.  This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
