The Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required; Accounting, Finance, Economics or related degree preferred; Advanced credential allowing for client representation before the Internal Revenue Service required (i.e. CPA, JD); At least 8 years relevant work experience with an accounting firm, including at least 4 years of State and Local Tax experience; Strong technical knowledge of complex tax issues; Proven leadership and strong organizational skills; Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; Exceptional interpersonal skills and a natural facilitator; Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; and. Directors plan, execute, direct, and complete innovative state and local jurisdictional tax planning, consulting, compliance expertise to clients, and tax controversy audit support, working closely with the Commercial and Private Client Services in reviewing multi-state returns and identifying client issues.
