Strong skills in Windows and macOS environments, VLANs, VPNs, high-capacity Wi-Fi, cybersecurity, cloud and SaaS platforms, and hardware troubleshooting are essential, while familiarity with digital asset management, AV integration, disaster recovery, and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical staff and volunteers are strongly preferred. The ideal candidate has three to six years of systems-administration or technical-support experience (ideally in a museum, library, gallery, or other high-uptime environment), a bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience and certifications), and industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+, with cloud or Google Workspace credentials highly valued.
