This full-time AmeriCorps service position offers a great opportunity to make an impact in the lives of others while building your own knowledge and skillset. AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities. What will you do? The Volunteer Services Coordinator helps recruit, train, schedule and recognize volunteers while growing the volunteer base and advancing individual and group partnerships. Market within the community to recruit new volunteers. Develop new events and opportunities for volunteers to engage with the mission of Habitat for Humanity. <ul><li>Typically serve Tuesday - Saturday to support work on the build site. </li><li>Recruit and schedule volunteers for construction, office, ReStore, deconstruction, family services and special events opportunities. </li><li>Assist with all aspects of volunteer management including orientations, maintenance of database, volunteer tracking and follow-up. </li><li>Work with construction staff to ensure successful volunteer build days - signing volunteers in, providing orientation and safety briefings, helping put away tools with volunteers at the end of the day and ordering necessary volunteer supplies. </li><li>Develop and/or revise volunteer recruitment, management and recognition tools. </li></ul>This position will focus on volunteer services aspects of Habitat affiliate operations. Where will you serve?<ul><li>Organization name: Habitat for Humanity Orange County </li><li>Nearest metropolitan area: Raleigh-Durham, NC </li><li>Full-time staff: 30 </li><li>Expected number of AmeriCorps members: 5 </li><li>Number of homes to be built: 22 </li><li>Activities and attractions: Beaches and the Atlantic coast are 2.5 hours to the east, and the Blue Ridge mountains are 3 hours to the west! Raleigh and Durham, NC are within a 20-30-minute drive of our office and both offer a plethora of city amenities. </li><li>Unique projects: Primarily, our volunteer recruitment is focused on our latest development: Weavers Grove. This will be a 238-home mixed income community in Chapel Hill, and it has essentially doubled our annual new construction output. Higher build goals mean a greater need for volunteers. More than just a numbers game, however, this will require thoughtfully recruiting and engaging volunteers to the tasks at hand. We also have several high school and university clubs with whom we engage each year, who provide not only volunteer support, but fundraising efforts as well.
