<p align="center"><strong>Are you passionate about ensuring every person is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion?</strong><strong></strong></p><p align="center"><strong>Do you believe in protecting the rights of those who may not be able to advocate for themselves?</strong></p><p align="center"><strong>Want to make a real difference — even with limited free time?</strong><strong></strong></p><p align="center"><strong>If so, Riverside’s Human Rights Committee may be the perfect opportunity for you!</strong></p><div><p>Riverside Community Care, a community-based non-profit organization, is a leading provider of mental healthcare, developmental and brain injury services, early childhood and youth programs, addiction treatment, suicide education, trauma response, and more.</p></div><div><p><strong><u>About the Human Rights Committee</u></strong></p></div><div><p>The Human Rights Committee (HRC) is a group of dedicated volunteers who ensure that Riverside’s programs consistently uphold the rights and well-being of the individuals we serve.</p></div><div><p>Our members come from diverse backgrounds, including:</p></div><ul><li style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'arial' , 'helvetica' , sans-serif">Legal, healthcare, or mental health professionals</li><li style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'arial' , 'helvetica' , sans-serif">Persons served by the Department of Mental Health or The Department of Developmental Services</li><li style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'arial' , 'helvetica' , sans-serif">Family members of persons served</li><li style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'arial' , 'helvetica' , sans-serif">Community members</li></ul><div><p><strong><u>What Committee Members Do</u></strong></p></div><div><p>HRC volunteers help ensure that Riverside’s programs remain respectful, safe, and empowering for all.</p></div><div><p>Activities include:</p></div><div><ul><li style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'arial' , 'helvetica' , sans-serif">Participating in one-hour virtual meetings every six weeks</li><li style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'arial' , 'helvetica' , sans-serif">Conducting 30–60 minute visits to program sites to ensure that individuals’ rights are respected and that living environments meet established quality standards.</li><li style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'arial' , 'helvetica' , sans-serif">Reviewing and providing guidance on Riverside's human rights policies and practices</li><li style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'arial' , 'helvetica' , sans-serif">Providing feedback and recommendations on various Riverside reports to strengthen Riverside’s commitment to person-centered care</li><li style="font-size:10pt;font-family:'arial' , 'helvetica' , sans-serif">Using email and Zoom comfortably for communication and virtual meetings</li></ul></div><div><p>This is an unpaid volunteer role with an estimated commitment of 5–10 hours per month. Responsibilities:
<ul><li><strong>Join as an Administrative / Organizational Volunteer!</strong><ul><li>Support our care team behind the scenes by helping in our offices (light data entry, assembling packets, sending cards to family members), organizing special memories for patients, sewing memory bears or blankets, and more. <em>Your support can make a big impact!</em></li></ul></li><li><strong>Become a Patient Care Volunteer!</strong><ul><li><strong> </strong>Visit patients to offer companionship and give caregivers a break. Activities include reading, hobbies, playing games, and listening. <em>Make a difference in someone's day!</em></li></ul></li><li><strong>Bring happiness as a Pet Therapy Volunteer! </strong><ul><li>Share the love of your Certified Therapy Pet with patients.  No hospice experience is needed, just a certified and vaccinated pet. <em>Your visits can bring immense joy and emotional support.</em></li></ul></li><li><strong>Share Your Talent as a Musician Volunteer! </strong><ul><li>Use your musical gifts to brighten patients' days and provide comfort to our healthcare staff. <em>Your music can be a source of peace and joy.</em></li></ul></li><li><strong>Serve as a Veteran Volunteer!</strong> <ul><li>Connect with fellow veterans, provide companionship, and participate in meaningful ceremonies. <em>Your unique insights can help support and honor our veteran patients.</em></li></ul></li></ul>
