The Director will closely collaborate with MHS leadership, Health Promotion and Well-Being, and campus partners to advance a comprehensive suicide prevention framework, as well as oversee the coordination of training and outreach on a wide range of topics to support the mental health and well-being of JHU students and learners. Although some aspects of this position relate to traditional Sunday morning activities, it is anticipated that the Director of Youth and Children's Ministry may be developing programs at times other than Sunday mornings to meet the needs of a world that no longer reserves Sunday for church activities.Duties and Responsibilities <ol><li>Leads the work of the Christian Education Committee</li><li>Recruits, trains and supervises Nursery volunteers and paid nursery staff</li><li>Along with Christian Education Committee, recruits, trains and supports Sunday School Teachers</li><li>Coordinates Vacation Bible School</li><li>Plans special activities and regular programming for children and youth</li><li>Develops relationships with families who have children in the church</li><li>Assists Pastor in planning and implementing confirmation program</li><li>Provides children's sermon on a regular basis in worship, as determined with Pastor</li><li>Participates in weekly staff meetings</li></ol>Duties may be added or deleted at any time verbally or in writing.Relationship to Minister, Staff and Congregation Reports directly to Pastor/Head of Staff and supervises Christian Education volunteers and paid nursery workers.
