Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders - Set up and operate welding equipment, cutting torches, plasma cutters, and grinders - Perform light fabrication tasks including cutting, forming, and fitting steel - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area - Perform routine maintenance and inspection of welding equipment - Communicate job status and material needs to supervisor Required Qualifications - Minimum 3 years of welding experience in a heavy equipment or trailer fabrication environment - Proficiency in MIG (GMAW) and flux-core (FCAW) welding; stick (SMAW) experience preferred - Ability to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead) - Experience welding mild steel, high-strength steel, and AR plate - Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and work orders - Working knowledge of cutting tools including oxy-acetylene torch and plasma cutter - Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. **Yellow Iron (Heavy Equipment) Welding** - Inspect, repair, and rebuild structural components on heavy construction equipment including excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, and scrapers - Weld wear plates, cutting edges, bucket teeth mounts, boom arms, frames, and other high-stress components - Perform hard-facing and overlay welding to extend the service life of wear parts - Diagnose cracks, fractures, and metal fatigue; determine proper repair procedures and pre-heat requirements - Fabricate custom brackets, guards, and replacement parts as needed .
