Duties & Responsibilities: • Operate ironworker power shears, grinders, metal forming equipment, and a variety of other welding equipment and hand tools • Analyze plans, drawings, work samples, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of welding assignments • Follow welding procedure specifications when welding and efficiently produce quality welds • Perform or assist with fit-up and preparation of welds and with post weld cleanup, inspection, and repair • Communicate regularly with the Field Foreman regarding issues and concerns on the job site • Comply with all HMT safety policies and programs • Review schematics to ensure you have the proper equipment and materials; recommend supplies and materials that need to be ordered • Set up your welding equipment on-site • Heat the metal using your torch and shape the material according to the design • Join the metal piece to the rest of the construction • Follow all safety protocols and clean up your workspace upon completion • Must wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection) • Must maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven) • Perform daily housekeeping in the shop • Perform other duties as assigned by management Skills & Requirements: • Applicants must be able to pass 2, 3, 4G plate tests • Must have a working knowledge of welding techniques (Electric Arc, MIG, and TIG), tools, and equipment • Must have basic fabrication and layout skills • Must have basic math competence • Must be able to operate and read a tape measure • Ability to read and write in English required • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds • A high school diploma or GED certificate • An AWS certificate (preferred) • 8+ years welding and fabricating experience a MUST • Blueprint reading skills • Requires the ability to use a phone and tablet to input data, such a timecards • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus for this role Job Location: 218 East Lathrop Avenue, Savannah, GA 31415 Working Environment: Work is typically performed while standing, in a non-climate-controlled machine shop or on job sites with varying weather and working conditions. For more than 30 years, we’ve built ASME Section VIII pressure vessels, API 650 storage tanks, and modular process equipment for leading companies in demanding industries—including chemical processing, water treatment, energy, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals. Our welds get x-rayed, our vessels get stamped, and our customers come back. Recent growth has us adding 4 to 6 skilled welder/fitters to our shop floor.  Position Highlights:<ul><li>Relocation Assistance: Available for moves of 250+ miles</li><li>High-Demand Overtime: 1.5x time-and-a-half opportunities</li><li>Quality-Driven: True code work with stable, long-term backlogs</li></ul> Pay Breakdown:<ul><li>Hourly Range: $22.00 – $35.00 / hour (Based on experience and weld test performance)</li><li>Overtime Pay: 1.5x base rate paid after 40 hours weekly (Consistent OT opportunities available)</li><li>Experienced Tank Builders & Welders: $28.00 – $35.00 / hour</li><li>Development-Level Welders: $22.00 – $27.00 / hour</li></ul> What You’ll Be Welding:<ul><li> ASME Section VIII pressure vessels, API 650 storage tanks, modular skids, and related components</li><li>Materials: Primarily carbon steel and stainless steel. Alloy work (duplex, Monel, Inconel, Alloy 20) is assigned based on demonstrated experience.</li><li>Multiple Processes: MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), Sub-Arc (SAW), and Flux Core (FCAW).
