Position Overview:

The Assistant Cook prepares food for service for residents, patients, employees and visitors.

What you'll do:

• Prepare meals for service per recipe for service to patients and retail customers
• Prepare and serve meals for catering events. Deliver and set-up catering functions
• May fill in as production cook, as needed
• Assist with menu and recipe development
• Adhere to all local, state and federal food safety and sanitation codes
• Accurately complete all temperature logs to ensure food safety
• Maintain all food storage and production areas in inspection-ready condition.
• Monitor overproduction to minimize waste
• Serve patrons and complete sales via POS in retail outlet
• Daily use of Food Service Management software for production sheets

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2 years of cooking/food production.
• 1 year food safety experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 or more years of cooking in large-scale production kitchen
• Experience cooking in a healthcare environment
• Servsafe or Food Safety Manager certified
• 2 year culinary degree

Physical Requirements:

• Lifting of 50 #. Standing for long periods of time. Working in an environment that includes a wide range of temperatures including production areas and walk-in coolers/freezers.

Location and Travel Requirements:

• Location: Onsite at Cayuga Medical Center- 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850
• Shift: Mostly days and rotating weekends and holidays. Occasional evenings for catering.
• Travel: 25% Travel may be expected if asked to assist with other locations

Pay Range Disclosure:

• Standard Rate of $18.36 - $23.87 per hour plus benefits
