Our client is seeking a Controller to lead core financial operations with an emphasis on accurate reporting, disciplined close processes, and oversight of daily accounting activity. This role is based onsite and is accountable for maintaining reliable financial data, supporting project-based accounting, and ensuring timely delivery of internal and external reports.
In this position, the Controller will guide accounting personnel while remaining actively involved in key deliverables. Responsibilities include supervision of transactional workflows, development of reporting schedules, coordination with external auditors and lenders, and continuous refinement of accounting procedures and systems. Experience within construction, utility contracting, or engineering services environments supporting infrastructure projects, particularly those tied to critical electrical systems, is strongly valued.
What You'll Do:
- Produce and review monthly and periodic financial statements to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Lead the month-end close cycle, including reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting deadlines
- Develop and maintain short-term cash forecasting models and monitor daily banking transactions
- Oversee accounts receivable, billing processes, and collections activity to support cash flow objectives
- Supervise accounts payable, payroll processing, and related reconciliations to ensure proper recording
- Coordinate audit activities by preparing schedules and responding to external auditor inquiries
- Maintain and update work-in-progress schedules aligned with project status and revenue recognition requirements
- Partner with operational leaders to evaluate project cost performance and financial outcomes
- Utilize and enhance ERP systems to support financial reporting and process efficiency
What We're Looking For:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role
- Background supporting project-based industries such as construction, utilities, or engineering services
- Familiarity with ERP platforms and financial systems used in complex accounting environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey financial insights to various stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
