Law Firm Administrative Director

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Work Schedule: Onsite

Compensation: $215,000 - $250,000 base salary

LHH is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a prominent law firm seeking an experienced Office Administrative Director to lead the strategic and day-to-day operations of its Los Angeles office. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for a professional who can effectively partner with firm leadership, oversee business operations, drive office initiatives, and support a high-performing professional environment.

Overview

The Office Administrative Director serves as a key business partner to office leadership and is responsible for the overall management of administrative, operational, financial, facilities, and people-related functions within the office. The role requires a strategic leader who can balance high-level planning with operational execution while fostering collaboration across attorneys, business professionals, and firmwide departments.

This position oversees a team of administrative professionals and works closely with firm leadership to promote operational excellence, employee engagement, and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with office leadership to support strategic initiatives and office goals.

  • Lead the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the office.

  • Collaborate with finance, technology, facilities, HR, recruiting, and other business services departments.

  • Manage office budgets, expenses, and operational planning.

  • Oversee vendor relationships, facilities management, and office infrastructure.

  • Support space planning, lease administration, and office-related projects.

  • Ensure efficient delivery of administrative and practice support services.

  • Develop and implement processes that enhance operational effectiveness and client service.

  • Partner with HR and talent management teams on employee engagement, performance management, recruiting, and professional development initiatives.

  • Promote compliance with firm policies, labor laws, and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead and manage a team of administrative professionals and support staff.

  • Coordinate office events, wellness initiatives, community outreach activities, and employee programs.

  • Support emergency preparedness and business continuity efforts.

  • Work closely with senior stakeholders on business operations, workplace culture, employee engagement, and strategic planning initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Minimum of 8 years of office administration, operations leadership, human resources, or related management experience.

  • Prior experience within a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of law firm operations, industry trends, and business management practices.

  • Experience partnering with senior leadership on strategic planning and operational initiatives.

  • Demonstrated success leading teams, managing change, and implementing projects.

  • Strong financial management and budgeting experience.

  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills.

  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and business systems.

  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours as business needs require.
