ROLE: Legal Intake Coordinator LOCATION: Austin, TX APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications will be accepted until filledWHY WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT YOUYou are passionate about protecting and strengthening worker & immigrant rights in Texas!You are proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in both English and SpanishYou have strong communication skills that allow you to build relationships and foster cooperation with a diverse array of communityYou are a critical thinker who thrives in a collaborative work environment.You are committed to Workers Defense's identity as a membership-led organization.You are able to work irregular hours (some evenings and weekends) and a mix of in-person and remote work.THE ROLE IN ACTIONManage the Employment Legal Services legal lineCoordinate Legal Case WorkScreen members and community as prospective clients for legal claimsManage physical and electronic case files and contacts in internal databasesRelay client communications under the supervision of an attorneyProvide referrals to clients / membersIdentify client‑members that have leadership potential and refer them to organizing teamReview and prepare intake forms for bi‑weekly Colectivas de los Defensores Laborales where members and volunteers assist fellow members in employment disputes and educate one another on labor rightsCommunity education and engagementSupport with Labor Know Your Rights workshops about 5 times a yearSupport volunteer and intern training on call log, screening calls, and intakesSupport base building by connecting new members to the organization's campaigns, programs, and committees.Complete administrative functions including evaluations, plans, timesheets, etc.Provide as needed support to Legal Services team in Houston and Dallas, campaigns, actions, events and meetingsSupport with grassroots fundraising effortsSupport cross‑programmatic campaigns, actions, events and meetingsAny other activities that are necessary to carry out the work of Workers Defense*If you don't meet all the criteria above but still feel your experience could be a good fit for the role, please apply. Will need to transport themselves to meetings etc.WHAT WE OFFERWorkers Defense has a salary scale that is based on experience.
