Description:
The Department of Decision and Information Sciences in the C. T. Bauer College of Business seeks qualified applicants for a Non-Tenure Track Professor of Practice position (start date in the Spring of 2027). Applicants with both research and teaching experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and healthcare are sought. Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: Management Information Systems (MIS), healthcare, organizational psychology, decision sciences, or operations management, with applications to business and organizational contexts.
Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in MIS, Healthcare, Psychology, Operations Management, or closely related discipline. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute primarily through high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels and to support the Healthcare Program in the Bauer College of Business.
Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include teaching courses in MIS, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and healthcare; contributing to curriculum development in emerging AI-related areas; and engaging with industry partners. The successful candidate is also expected to provide service to the department, college, and university consistent with the expectations of a non-tenure-track appointment. Prior research and/or industry experience in the healthcare sector is highly desirable. Teaching responsibilities may include assignments at both the University of Houston''s Katy campus and the Main Campus.
About the Department and College: The DISC Department at Bauer College includes 22 tenured or tenure-track faculty in Operations Management and Information Systems. Faculty conduct cutting-edge research in areas including healthcare, AI, digital platforms, and supply chain management. The department is highly active in research and is consistently ranked among the top 50 Business Schools in North America based on publications in leading operations management and information systems journals included in the UTD-24 list. The C. T. Bauer College of Business is AACSB-accredited, with over 6,000 undergraduates and 900 graduate students across BBA, MBA, Executive MBA, specialized master's, and PhD programs. The PhD program has seen a substantial uplift in quality in recent years.
