About the Staff Accountant Opportunity:

CFS is working with a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to quality, affordable housing. They are currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing finance team. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, supporting federally funded programs and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:

• Assist with daily accounting activities and financial transaction processing.
• 
  
• Prepare recurring financial reports and maintain supporting documentation.
• 
  
• Review, reconcile, and update financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• 
  
• Support accounts payable, cash receipts, and general ledger functions.
• 
  
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• 
  
• Maintain vendor information and assist with payment administration.
• 
  
• Help monitor financial activity and investigate discrepancies as needed.
• 
  
• Support internal and external audit requests by gathering documentation and schedules.
• 
  
• Assist with various reporting requirements and organizational compliance initiatives.
• 
  
• Collaborate with finance leadership on special projects and process improvements.
• 
  
• Provide administrative and accounting support to the finance team.
• 
  
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• 
  

Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:

• 
  
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 
  
• 1-3 years of accounting/AP experience within a nonprofit or real estate organization a plus
• 
  
• Experience using Yardi, QuickBooks, or similar accounting platform a plus
• 
  
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
• 
  

Salary: $63,000-68,000
Schedule: Fully on site in Baltimore, MD M-F
