At Converse, we're looking for a detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative accounting professional to join our team as a Staff Accountant. This role is more than traditional accounting, it's an opportunity to become a trusted business partner by helping ensure the financial accuracy, integrity, and reporting that supports our operations and project teams.

As our Staff Accountant, you'll play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, preparing financial analyses, and helping drive sound financial decisions across the organization. What You'll Do

General Ledger & Financial Reporting

  • Prepare, review, and post recurring and standard journal entries.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by ensuring transactions are properly coded and recorded.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Support the preparation of management reports and financial analyses.

 Account Reconciliations & Analysis

  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly.
  • Perform variance analysis comparing actual results to budgets, forecasts, and prior periods.
  • Research and explain account fluctuations, discrepancies, and unusual transactions.
  • Assist with accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other month-end accounting schedules.

 Operational & Project Accounting Support

  • Partner with the Controller and operational leaders to provide accurate financial information that supports business decisions.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes as needed.
  • Support project accounting activities and help maintain accurate financial records for ongoing construction projects.
  • Prepare reports and financial analyses for leadership as requested.

 Audit, Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company accounting policies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and internal controls.
  • Maintain proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and other financial systems.

 Communication & Collaboration

  • Build strong working relationships with Project Managers, Operations, Human Resources, and company leadership.
  • Communicate financial information clearly and professionally while maintaining confidentiality and the highest level of integrity.
  • Provide outstanding internal customer service while contributing to a collaborative and team-oriented accounting department.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • High level of integrity with the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in construction accounting.
  • Experience with ERP and accounting software systems (Spectrum)
  • Knowledge of job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and project accounting.
  • Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
