    About the Staff Accountant Role

    The Staff Accountant will support accounting and reporting activities tied to projects, investments, and operational financial performance. This position will work closely with accounting leadership and cross-functional business partners.

    The role will assist with project accounting, budgeting, reconciliations, financial analysis, and management reporting. It is well suited for either an early-career accountant ready to expand their experience or a accounting professional who enjoys owning detailed work and contributing as a dependable team member.

    The successful candidate will be resourceful, analytical, and comfortable working independently while knowing when to ask thoughtful questions.

    Role Responsibilities

    • Perform accounting and reporting activities for assigned projects and business entities.
    • Prepare account reconciliations, journal entries, financial schedules, and supporting analyses.
    • Assist with project budgets, cost tracking, job costing, and work-in-progress reporting.
    • Monitor project-related transactions, commitments, deposits, and cash activity.
    • Support cash-flow forecasting and other short- and long-term financial planning.
    • Partner with operational teams to investigate variances and maintain accurate project information.
    • Assist with external accounting, tax, and year-end reporting requests.
    • Develop and improve recurring reports, dashboards, and forecasting tools using Excel, Power BI, or SQL.

    Qualifications

    • At least one year of accounting, finance, audit, or closely related experience.
    • An associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field is strongly preferred.
    • Experience within Construction, Real Estate, project accounting, or a similar environment is highly valued.
    • Understanding of job costing, trial balances, account reconciliations, or work-in-progress accounting.
    • Strong proficiency with Excel, including formulas, functions, and data analysis.
    • Exposure to Power BI, SQL, or other reporting and analytics tools is a plus.
    • Resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to solve problems independently in a hands-off management environment.
