As a Utility Attendant, you are required to be energetic, friendly, and supportive of service staff in order to maximize our ability to serve guests effectively and timely. You will perform cleaning and sanitation tasks and support the culinary operations with equipmentand "breakdown" stations during scheduled events. The Utility Attendant prepares all china, glass, and silver; maintains preparation and services areas in an organized manner and it is the backbone of a successful operation. This position works closely with Food and Beverage services (restaurant, banquet) and cooks in all kitchens. The Utility Attendant reports to the Executive Steward.
The operations of the Seaport Hotel are 24 hours a day 7 days a week, inclusive of all holidays. Therefore, the schedule requirements are flexible to meet the needs of the business accordingly. Due to the cyclical nature of hospitality, flexibility is required to meet business needs. Participation in "all hands" events may be necessary. The hotel operates 24/7, including holidays. The company strives to support work-life balance.
Responsibilities
Wash, clean and maintain all small wares for food service operation
Maintain clean kitchen, walk-in freezers, refrigerators, and storage areas always
Clean and maintain all cooking equipment (i.e., stoves, ovens, skillets, etc.)
Follow all sanitary and safety regulations
Clean facilities and equipment, e.g., cleaning floors and empty/storing garbage
Ensure adequate supplies, follow procedures for resupplying as necessary
Perform support functions for kitchen staff as directed
Assist purchasing and receiving team as necessary
Read banquet event orders (BEO's) and execute the set-up of appropriate china, glass, and silver for the event under direction of the shift supervisor
Organize china, glass and silver before, during and after every event and prepare for dishwashing
Required Job Knowledge and Skills
The ability to operate a conveyer belt dish machine
Understanding of names and uses of kitchen equipment.
Read and understand Department skill manual

Qualifications
Experience:
Hospitality experience preferred.
Experience working with diverse cultures and backgrounds preferred.
Education:
High School diploma, general education degree or international equivalent preferred.
Language Skills:
Fluency of the English language is strongly preferred.
Ability to understand and compose instructions, memos, and short correspondence.
