We are seeking an experienced Temporary Senior Accountant - Lease Accounting & Analysis to join our Pasadena office and provide hands-on support to our Lease Accounting, Administration & Analysis team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional to gain meaningful exposure to a large and complex commercial real estate lease portfolio while working on a broad range of U.S. GAAP accounting, revenue recognition, financial reporting, and analytical responsibilities.
The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This individual will play an important role in supporting the accounting and administration of a high volume of active leases and will partner with teams across the organization to help ensure accurate financial reporting and application of technical accounting guidance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lease Accounting & Analysis
- Perform day-to-day accounting activities for the Lease Accounting, Administration & Analysis function, with responsibility for accurate and timely lease-related accounting and reporting.
- Account for revenue recognition associated with new leases, lease amendments, and other lease-related transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Support the ongoing monitoring and accounting administration of a high-volume portfolio of active leases.
- Research and analyze technical accounting matters involving complex lease transactions, including lease modifications and terminations.
- Assist with technical accounting research and the preparation of above- and below-market lease calculations associated with acquired leases and new real estate acquisitions.
- Monitor lease deliveries and other key milestones to ensure appropriate timing of GAAP rent recognition.
- Prepare rental revenue assumptions to support the annual budgeting process.
- Prepare monthly straight-line rental revenue reconciliations and related fluctuation analyses.
- Analyze tenant recovery and rental revenue fluctuations, researching and explaining significant variances.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts to sub-ledgers and supporting schedules.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Serve as a key accounting partner to Asset Services teams, providing lease accounting expertise, financial analysis, and support related to property operations.
- Assist with the review and interpretation of lease abstracts related to operating expense recoveries.
- Support the year-end common area maintenance (CAM) reconciliation process.
- Research and resolve lease-related accounting inquiries in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Financial Reporting & Special Projects
- Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly accounting reporting packages for executive management.
- Provide financial reporting support for the Company's quarterly and annual SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K, as well as quarterly supplemental reporting.
- Support internal and external audit requests and provide supporting documentation and analysis as needed.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, departmental priorities, and other special projects designed to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Lease Accounting function.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience required.
- Strong technical U.S. GAAP accounting knowledge and demonstrated accounting research skills.
- Lease accounting experience highly preferred.
- Public accounting experience highly preferred.
- Commercial real estate or other real estate accounting experience preferred.
- CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience analyzing financial results, preparing reconciliations, and researching accounting discrepancies.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with Accounting, field personnel, senior management, and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other business-related software.
- Experience with Yardi or similar accounting software is desirable.

This is a temporary Senior Accountant position supporting the Lease Accounting, Administration & Analysis function. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make an immediate contribution while gaining exposure to a sophisticated commercial real estate portfolio, complex lease transactions, technical accounting matters, and public-company financial reporting.
The expected base hourly wage range for this position is $48.08-$64.90 USD hourly. This hourly wage range is an estimate, and the actual hourly wage may vary based on the consideration of many factors, which may include, but are not limited to: the individual's knowledge, experience, education, qualifications, skills, job location, and the Company's compensation practices.
