Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.

Job Summary:
Step Down Unit RN Beaver Dam, WI. This acute care position involves providing high-quality patient care in a specialized step down environment with a focus on patients transitioning from intensive care. The role requires flexibility, clinical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team during night shifts.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA). Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a step down or similar critical care environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Cerner electronic medical record systems; prior experience in a step down or ICU setting; ability to titrate drips such as Heparin, Levo, Cardizem, Dobutamine, and pressors.
  • Additional Information:
    • Bed capacity of 12, with 4 rooms designated for intensive care, serving an average census of 8 patients.
    • Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:3 to 1:5, with ICU ratios at 1:3. The unit employs team nursing with RN and LPN staff managing a total of 7 patients.
    • Common patient diagnoses include pneumonia, Covid-19, post-operative knees and hips, and falls.
    • There are nurse aids on the unit, with a CNA-to-patient ratio dependent on census.
    • The charge nurse may take an assigned patient load or step into a leadership role when needed.
    • RNs are responsible for interpreting remote telemonitor strips using remote tele devices.
    • Orientation includes 4 hours of Clinical Background Training (CBT) and 8 hours of floor training.
    • Travel nurses are expected to be flexible, participate in self-scheduling, and fill staffing gaps as needed.
    • Every third weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) is scheduled for weekend work.
    • Holiday shifts are required, with coverage for 2 out of 3 holidays.
    • On-call standby duty is required with a 45-minute response time; float options include working in the Emergency Department or taking paid time off.
    • The dress code is solid color scrubs, and uniform color is flexible.
    • Compliance with facility clock-in and clock-out procedures is mandatory.
    • Clinicians previously employed by the facility must have an end date of at least six months prior to submission.
    • The shift begins on 10/05/2026.
