Specialized Experience for a GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Developing architectural interior design solutions for complex building facilities, such as military, healthcare, clinical, institutional, governmental, industrial, educational, or similarly complex facilities, involving new construction, renovation, restoration, or modernization projects; 2) Preparing interior design drawings, specifications, finish schedules, furniture and equipment layouts, cost estimates, or related construction documents for building-facility projects with functional, technical, aesthetic, durability, and life-cycle requirements; 3) Coordinating interior design requirements with architects, engineers, construction personnel, facility users, or other technical stakeholders to integrate interior design features into complete building-project documents; 4) Applying building codes, design criteria, construction practices, and technical requirements to evaluate interior design solutions for complex facilities; and 5) Reviewing professional design submissions, construction submittals, material data, shop drawings, or furniture-procurement documentation for technical adequacy and conformance with project or contract requirements. Time-in-grade documentation: If you are applying for a higher grade and your SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you meet the one year time-in-grade requirement so you will need to provide an SF-50 which clearly demonstrates you meet the time-in-grade requirements (examples of appropriate SF-50s include Promotions, Within-grade Grade/Range Increases, and SF-50s with an effective date more than one year old).
