POSITION TITLE: City Engineer DEPARTMENT: Public Works REPORTS TO: Deputy Public Works Director of Operations SUPERVISES: Deputy City Engineer, Civil Staff Engineer(s) PURPOSE OF POSITION: Responsible for the daily operation of the Engineering Division within the Public Works Department through the oversight of the engineering work, including monitoring, reviewing, permitting, analysis, planning, budgeting, design, construction management, and inspection. Confers and consults with the Deputy Public Works Director of Operations on issues related to the design and construction of public works systems (sanitary sewer, storm sewer, roadways, water systems, levees, dams, stormwater reservoirs, public facilities, etc.), the interpretation and enforcement of construction contracts and specifications, and the design and operation of the traffic system.
