The primary elements of the social work role include assessment of the psychological, financial, and discharge planning needs of the patients and families, providing information, support, counseling, and referrals to other levels of care and appropriate resources for a variety of diagnoses for the adult population. The role reflects appropriate knowledge of Social Work scope of practice, current state requirements, CMS Conditions of Participation, EMTALA, Patient Bill of Rights, AB 1203 and other Federal or State regulatory agency requirements specific to the Social Work role.
