Duties of this position are to (1) teach introductory level and advanced level courses in transportation engineering, which may include introduction to transportation engineering; transportation systems planning; traffic engineering and operations; highway design; transportation systems analysis; and courses focused on multimodal transportation, safety, freight, and transportation data/technology; (2) support transportation-specific laboratories, field experiences, and student engagement with transportation agencies and industries; (3) contribute to and shape the transportation engineering curriculum through the integration of emerging transportation technologies and data-driven methods, development of new and innovative courses, and continuous improvement through assessment of student learning outcomes and contributions to ABET accreditation activities; (4) engage in professional development and teaching-related scholarship; and (5) participate in appropriate department and college level service. Preferred Qualifications Successful candidates should have (1) professional engineering licensure or progress toward licensure; (2) relevant professional experience in transportation engineering practice, government agencies, consulting, or industry; (3) record of developing engaging, student-centered instruction using active learning, field-based experiences, laboratory activities, simulation tools, and emerging transportation technologies; and (4) strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
