Duties include performing repairs to water and wastewater lines, providing traffic control, installing sewer and water taps, conducting repairs to manholes, hydrants, and valves, and interacting with other City employees and citizens. Working conditions may also include extreme cold and heat, temperature changes, humidity, heights, vibration, wetness, dryness, confined spaces, noise 80-dB and over, fumes, mists, gases, dust, caustics, chemicals, allergens, detergents, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and exposure to burns.
