ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:Proofread, edit, and cite check fact and legal citations in memorandums and briefsProficient using litigation research tools like Westlaw, Lexis, and PacerCoordinate with case team and e-Discovery personnel on all aspects of data collectionManage complex files; review discovery materials by performing relevance, confidentiality, and privilege reviewsCreate discovery templatesPrepare for depositions and create witness filesAnalyze and summarize documents, interrogatories, and other factual information, including sophisticated or technical information related to legal issuesConduct factual research to compile information regarding parties, experts, and judges; perform due diligence research by searching Secretary of State information, corporate profiles, prior litigation, recent press and social media postingsUnderstand how to research court rules in preparation for filings and coordinate with Docket team to ensure all filings strictly adhere to relevant rules and deadlinesAct as liaison with Document Services and other departments to coordinate TOC/TOA, final formatting, and specialized printing of briefs, per guidelines in various jurisdictionsPrepare key fact chronologies and create demonstrative exhibits such as charts, graphs and mapsAttend and provide support at Trial, which includes: monitoring documents and evidence; assuring presence of witnesses; preparing and monitoring visual aids; taking notes on testimony; tracking of exhibits introduced and marked into evidence; digesting trial transcripts; interacting with witnesses, court clerks, client, and vendors; mentoring junior paralegal trial team membersAssists with appeals by compiling Record on Appeal and/or Joint Appendix; indexing cases for a table of authorities; acting as liaison with the appellate printerQualifications, Experience and Personal AttributesEducation/Training/Certifications:Bachelor's degree requiredParalegal certificate from ABA approved paralegal program preferredProfessional Experience:At least six years of substantive litigation experience as a Litigation Paralegal in a law firm setting requiredTrial, arbitration, or mediation experience preferredTechnical Skills:Proficient with Microsoft SuiteKnowledge of Relativity and general database managementWorking knowledge with legal case management software such as OPUS 2 preferredPerformance Traits:Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendorsAbility to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the FirmAbility to work under pressure, meet deadlines with shifting prioritiesMust be a self-starter with a high level of initiativeStrong customer service skills, able to anticipate needsStrong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projectsMaintains confidentiality and exercises discretionExercises solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skillsThis description is not exhaustive, and the Firm may modify it at any time at its sole discretion; nothing herein creates an employment contract or alters the at-will nature of employment.
