Job Responsibilities: Mission of the Position: The Senior Customs Analyst will have responsibility for various Custom Compliance tasks to support Magna Powertrain (MPT) facilities supported by the MPT Customs Team. This position will be the Subject Matter Expert on Brokerage/ Operations and will work closely with vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, and MPT divisions to obtain information required by MPT's Custom Brokers to ensure compliant and timely import entries are filed with U.S. Customs and Border Protection as part of the Broker Referral process. Key Responsibilities: <ul><li>Responsible as the process owner and management of the Broker Referral process, to obtain and provide critical information to MPT's customs brokers to ensure highest levels of import entry compliance are met.</li></ul><ul><li>Maximize duty savings opportunities via application of Free Trade Agreements (e.g., USMCA, KORUS), Special trade Programs, and HTSUS 9801/9802, including solicitation and qualification as needed.</li></ul><ul><li>Support Magna cross functional teams and divisions with Duty Impact Analysis to assist with sourcing decisions and landed cost calculations.</li></ul><ul><li>Measure custom brokers compliance with Magna's Broker Business Rules.</li><li>Provide operational support to MPT divisions such as but not limited to hand carry shipments, shipments issues/ delays, and reporting of shipment status/ updates/</li></ul><ul><li>Manage Temporary Import Bond shipment process to determine proper applicability and tracking, requesting extensions as needed.</li></ul><ul><li>Provide reporting and analytical support for other Compliance Team initiatives via ACE Reports and/ or Ad Hoc Reports from MPT customs brokers.</li></ul><ul><li>Provide operational support to MPT divisions as part of their Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) initiative</li></ul><ul><li>Responsible for determining HTS classification for Non-Production parts/ commodities</li><li>Work with the rest of the customs team to map processes and develop system instructions and training materials</li><li>Identify process improvement opportunities and support the implementation of new systems</li><li>Look into AI opportunities within our data, processes and systems</li></ul><ul><li>Provide decision support on day-to-day basis compliance matters.</li><li>Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.</li></ul> Customers and Business Interfaces: <ul><li>Internal Purchasing and Logistics teams</li><li>Magna Purchasing and Logistics teams</li><li>External customers and suppliers</li></ul> Requirements and Qualifications: <ul><li>Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or an Operational Management</li><li>Customs Broker License and/ or Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation preferred.</li><li>5 to 7 years of related work experience.</li><li>U.S. and Canadian regulatory import, export, and re-export, trade compliance experience.</li><li>Complete understanding of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Regulations, including knowledge of Customs Valuation and Classification under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the U.S. and Canada.</li><li>Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements, Special Trade Programs and HTSUS 9801/ 9802 and documentary requirements.</li><li>Understand Country of origin and marketing issues, recordkeeping requirements, and supply chain security regulations as they relate to imports.</li></ul> Magna Standards: <ul><li>Practice and maintain</li></ul>
