Job Overview: The CNN Machinist II plays a crucial role in supporting production by operating machinery to fabricate various one-off parts and tooling requirements. They ensure adherence to safety protocols while assisting the Aftermarket team in their operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: <ul><li>Machine parts to specifications using manual machine tools like drills, lathes, and milling machines. </li></ul><ul><li>Perform repair and restoration of parts to support the turbocharger service business. </li></ul><ul><li>Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work. </li></ul><ul><li>Conduct dimensional layout on all machined parts to ensure conformity to prints and routing instructions, completing applicable documentation. </li></ul><ul><li>Identify and execute multiple surface finishes as required. </li></ul><ul><li>Deburr and stamp parts according to specifications. </li></ul><ul><li>Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, jaw attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines. </li></ul><ul><li>Monitor machine feed and speed during the machining process, ensuring proper operation. </li></ul><ul><li>Maintain a clean work area by emptying waste containers, disposing of used oil, sweeping chips, and replacing broken pallets. </li></ul><ul><li>Read job cards to determine product details, instructions, specifications, machining time, and quantities. </li></ul><ul><li>Adjust machine offsets such as wear, geometry, and cutter compensation. </li></ul><ul><li>Observe all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety rules, including machining guards, lifting techniques, and slips and falls prevention. </li></ul><ul><li>Independently operate assigned machines like lathes and mills, including setup procedures. </li></ul><ul><li>Handle multiple types of machines efficiently as required. </li></ul><ul><li>Operate all machine tools necessary for the job. </li></ul><ul><li>Utilize advanced trade mathematics along with complicated drawings and specifications. </li></ul><ul><li>Perform additional duties as assigned. </li></ul>Required Qualifications:<ul><li>High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution required. </li></ul><ul><li>Minimum 2-5 years of experience in CNC machining, preferably in oil & gas, power, heavy equipment, or automation & controls. </li></ul><ul><li>Advanced knowledge of precision measuring tools such as dial and Vernier calipers, ID MICS, depth mics, ball mics, etc. </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to lift at least 40 pounds and perform physical labor involving standing, bending, or kneeling. </li></ul><ul><li>Adaptability to evolving work requirements in a team environment. </li></ul><ul><li>Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required. </li></ul><ul><li>Certification to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and crane. </li></ul><ul><li>Vo Tech Certificate. </li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge of oilfield assemblies and parts. </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to read and understand instructions, perform quality control, and adhere to safety guidelines. </li></ul><ul><li>Effective verbal and written communication skills. </li></ul><ul><li>Basic math and computer skills. </li></ul><ul><li>Capability to read, evaluate, and respond to product specifications and drawings. </li></ul><ul><li>Comfortable with various types of metal cutting machinery, demonstrating mechanical aptitude. </li></ul> Competencies:<ul><li>Safety focused </li></ul><ul><li>Service-oriented </li></ul><ul><li>Business focused </li></ul><ul><li>A self-starter </li></ul><ul><li>Dependable </li></ul><ul><li>Strong teamwork skills </li></ul><ul><li>Results oriented </li></ul> <ul><li>Sense of urgency </li></ul> Cooper Machinery Services is an equal opportunity employer and gives all qualified applicants consideration of employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws. This involves obtaining tool sets and setting up the machines to which they are assigned.</li><li>Operate machine tool after set-up, checking first pieces to assure conformance with prescribed dimensions and quality standards. This involves measurements using standard precision instruments or pre-set gages and blueprints prepared by the company's engineering staff.</li><li>Operate the machine after set-up or instruct another operator in proper operation/set-up of machine.</li><li>Select, remove, and replace indexable inserts. Sharpen the necessary cutting, drilling and boring tools using specialized sharpening equipment, or by hand.</li><li>Make minor CNC program adjustments, including: geometry and tooling offsets to maintain stated manufacturing tolerances.</li><li>Change cutting oils, clean and lubricate machinery as required. Use guards to prevent injury, oil splash, and unnecessary cleanup.</li><li>Care for hand tools, manufacturing devices and tooling related to assigned machine(s), storing as directed or in accordance with shop procedures.</li><li>Record production information as directed.</li><li>Use available safety equipment/guards and observe shop safety procedures.
