Climbing DirectorThe Climbing Director is responsible for ensuring that the climbing tower area at camp is operated safely and in accordance with quality standards. This position is responsible for providing safety and climbing instruction to youth participants. Previous experience in Scouting notrequired. Location: Phillippo Scout Camp, Cannon Falls, MN (30654 32nd Ave Way, Cannon Falls, MN 55009 just 30 minutes south of the Twin Cities, MN.)Qualifications/Certifications:<ul><li>21 years of age</li><li>Current Scouting AmericaClimbing Level II Instructor certificationor ability to attend training May 28th and May 29th at Base Camp, Fort Snelling, MN. </li></ul>Position-specific Duties:<ul><li>Ensures camp climbing program is run in accordance withScouting America standards.</li><li>Coordinates set up, maintenance and operations of the climbing and bouldering programs.</li><li>Reviews, updates and/or creates outlines for climbing programs.</li><li>Teachesclimbing rotation and other assigned advancement programs.</li><li>Trains the staff in proper climbing safety and climbing techniques.</li><li>Supervises staff assisting at the Climbing Tower to run the tower efficiently, safely and in accordance withScouting America standards.</li><li>Leads all activities occurring at the climbing tower or bouldering wall.</li><li>Maintains inventory and coordinates check-in/check-out of all area equipment to protect against equipment misuse, damage and loss. Informs the Camp Director of equipment to be ordered or repaired.</li><li>Ensures completion of area checkout procedures at the conclusion of each day.</li><li>Assists in camp-wide activities such as other merit badges, saunas, campfires, swim qualifications, equipment issue and physical projects.</li></ul>Competencies:<ul><li style="vertical-align:baseline;background-color:transparent;text-align:left">Leadership Ability</li><li style="vertical-align:baseline;background-color:transparent;text-align:left">Ability to supervise multiple people and activities simultaneously</li><li style="vertical-align:baseline;background-color:transparent;text-align:left">Familiarity with Scouting America Climbing Policies</li><li style="vertical-align:baseline;background-color:transparent;text-align:left">Climbing technique and safety</li><li style="vertical-align:baseline;background-color:transparent;text-align:left">Patience and ability to work well with Scouts</li><li style="vertical-align:baseline;background-color:transparent;text-align:left">First Aid, CPR, AED, Spinal injury management (backboarding)</li></ul>Season Length:  June 11th – August 19thCompensation: Salary starts at $4500 for the season.
