NOTE: The lists below are not ranked in order of importance:Qualifications:* High school diploma or general education degree (GED)* One to two years of related experience* Serve Safe food handlers certification or the ability to obtain* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Supervisor and/or Board of Education may find appropriateRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:* Ability to work effectively with others* Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing* Effective, active listening skills* Organizational and problem-solving skills* Thorough understanding of friendly customer service* Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings, and labels* Ability to operate a point of sale system and other related computer equipment* Basic math/bookkeeping skills* Such alternatives to the above knowledge, skills, and abilities as the Supervisor and/or Board of Education may find appropriateEssential Functions:* Ensure the safety of students* Foster and maintain a positive, welcoming, and respectful environment in the cafeteria* Assist in the preparation of menu items and/or the fruit and vegetable bar* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations* Fill milk, condiments, fruit/veggie bar, etc., as needed* Prepare the point of sale system before lunch starts and operate the POS during service* Ensure the correct identity of the student via name and picture once they enter their ID* Accurately enter the student's meal selections into the POS* Handle cash transactions, process meal payments, and provide accurate change per policy.
