Performs daily preventative maintenance checks and completes preventative maintenance logs; Greases fleet vehicles as specified by the City and the manufacturer; Changes Zerk fittings (grease nozzles) that do not accept grease; Changes filters (oil and air) and strainers when necessary; Checks gas, oil, water, antifreeze and battery levels on all assigned equipment, and fills when necessary; Inspects tires on vehicles for signs of wear and notes observations on inspection/preventative maintenance reports; Changes and repairs minor parts such as light bulbs, hoses, fan belts; Operates any motorized equipment as well as other equipment used in the performance of required duties; Cleans and purges solid waste equipment bodies of debris to make ready for repairs; Performs regularly scheduled preventative maintenance checks as outlined by the equipment manufacturer in the service manual and completes preventive maintenance logs. One (1) year of experience performing minor repairs, such as repairing and/or installing light bulbs, hoses, fan belts, brake shoes, etc., in a medium or heavy duty equipment/vehicle repair shop.
