Job Summary Position is responsible for providing all students with an enriched library environment containing a wide variety of materials that will invite intellectual growth and research and to aid all students in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of media center resources. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning health and attitude problems.

<p>Job Summary Position is responsible for providing all students with an enriched library environment containing a wide variety of materials that will invite intellectual growth and research and to aid all students in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of media center resources.Essential Duties Operates and supervises the media center to which assigned.Assists teachers in the selection of books and other instructional materials and makes media center materials available to supplement the instructional program.Informs teachers and other staff members concerning new materials the media center acquires.Maintains a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all media center materials and instructs teachers and students on the use of the system.Works with teachers in planning those assignments likely to lead to extended use of media center resources.Helps students to develop habits of independent reference work and to develop skill in the use of reference materials in relation to planned assignments.Helps teachers and students conduct research using the internet and other technological means.Arranges frequently changing displays and exhibits likely to interest the students.Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning health and attitude problems.Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. Performs tasks at the circulation desk of the library including checking library materials in and out, preparing books to be shelved, registering and processing library cards, collecting materials for the book depository, and securing the library at the end of the business day. Designs, develops, and delivers employee training and development programs through a variety of formats including e-learning, instructor-led classes, and other performance aids; coordinates and oversees the design, development and delivery of such programs/services by library staff.

<div>Our client in Suffolk, VA is looking for a temporary Marketing Assistant for a new Library.</div><div><br/></div><div><strong>Job Description:</strong></div><ul><li>Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates subordinate staff in the work to be performed and ensures compliance with library policies and procedures.</li><li>Manages the library’s various social media accounts and development of the website.  </li><li>Coordinates with media companies and other resources to obtain cost effective advertising.</li><li>Coordinates and participates in special events and initiatives of all sizes.</li><li>Performs administrative duties such as preparing and analyzing statistical reports, performing outreach to staff, monitoring discretionary spending of a budget, and delivering trainings and classes as needed.</li><li>Prepares statistical and financial reports for the various social media platforms, website, and other tools.  Prepares and produces financial/budgetary reports monthly.</li><li>Designs, develops, and delivers employee training and development programs through a variety of formats including e-learning, instructor-led classes, and other performance aids; coordinates and oversees the design, development and delivery of such programs/services by library staff.</li><li>Identify marketing needs, recommending and implementing solutions, and evaluating and measuring effectiveness.</li><li>Coaches and supports employees with developing their skills and improving job performance.</li><li>Assesses the success of campaigns, initiatives, tools, resources, and platforms to determine effectiveness to meet strategic goals.  </li><li>Performs tasks at the circulation desk of the library including checking library materials in and out, preparing books to be shelved, registering and processing library cards, collecting materials for the book depository, and securing the library at the end of the business day.</li><li>Directs, advises, provides, assists, and instructs patrons with locating library materials, answering reference and directional questions, and placing reserve requests.</li><li>Receives, reviews, and responds to patron complaints.</li><li>Monitor and evaluate library public services, facilities and staff in the absence of Library Management.</li></ul><div><strong>Hours:</strong></div><ul><li>Monday – Friday 830AM – 500PM</li></ul><div><strong>Pay:</strong></div><ul><li>$26.50 - $28.85/hour</li></ul>
