Responsibilities include but are not limited to: direct patient care services, providing sexual assault/abuse forensic medical examinations, coordination of medical and follow up care, and crisis intervention; assisting RTC NP Supervisors with Clinic operations, and facilitating collaboration with hospital departments and community agencies (Law Enforcement, District Attorneys, crime labs, etc.). By using the SPs the NP is able to change the treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior, and physical condition, and determines if they are abnormal findings (Ca Nursing Practice Act, subsection (b) of Section 2725).
