Unit Details: General Med-Surg patient population including COPD exacerbation, acute renal failure, sepsis, UTI, pneumonia, syncope, anemia, hip fractures, bowel obstruction, cellulitis, renal failure, dehydration, diabetes, hepatic encephalopathy, stroke, TIA, chronic CHF, PE, GI bleed, failure to thrive, non-healing wounds, renal insufficiency, acute kidney injury, comfort care, oncology, post-op care, and recovery cardiac cath patients. Common procedures include peritoneal dialysis, chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, bedside incision and drainage, central lines, thoracentesis, paracentesis, wound vacs, Bucks traction, breathing treatments, chest tube set-up/care, CPAP/BiPap, trach care, post-op drains, tube feeding, and catheterization (Foley and suprapubic).
