Directs the activities of a Division's surveying and mapping unit involved in field surveying, mapping, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), utility relocation, and City property rights acquisition issues; Directs the acquisition and/or disposition of City property and/or right-of-ways; Prepares data for Capitol Improvement Projects (CIP) and operating budgets; Confers with superiors, contractors, developers, and property owners regarding surveying, mapping, GIS, utility relocation, and City right-of-way issues; Coordinates the preparation and review of construction plans and reports for surveying, mapping, utility, and right-of-way issues; Coordinates the research of survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records required for property surveys; Initiates correspondence; prepares technical reports; maintains comprehensive files on surveying, mapping, GIS, utility, and right-of-way issues; maintains files of maps, record plats, and annexations; Represents the Division in special projects, and in meetings with state, county, and municipal organizations, consulting engineering groups, contractors, and area civic associations; Provides instruction to professional and sub-professional surveying, utility coordination, and mapping personnel; Stays abreast of current surveying, mapping, GIS, and right-of-way principles and procedures; Coordinates the work of surveying and mapping unit with engineering and architectural. personnel, clients, and others concerned with projects; Supervises and trains personnel engaged in surveying and mapping activities, to include approving/disapproving leave requests, conducting performance evaluations, and/or initiating disciplinary actions; Attends professional surveying seminars, staff meetings, and policy planning sessions.
