p>Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: Garage environment; exposed to dirt, grease, chemicals, fumes, loud noise, slippery surfaces, potentially dangerous equipment (e.g., rack lift), variable temperatures and weather conditions; requires considerable physical exertion to include frequent lifting of items up to 50 pounds (e.g., blocks, headsets) and occasional lifting of 100 pounds (e.g., tires), extended periods of standing, bending, or assuming awkward positions; may work varied hours and shifts to include evenings, weekends, and holidays; may be called to work in emergency situations; requires on-and-off-campus travel.
Repairs, replaces, or adjusts defective units and parts on vehicles and equipment (e.g., exhaust systems, hydraulic systems, brake linings, gasoline and diesel engines, water and fuel pumps, wheels, tires, conventional transmissions, clutches, electrical systems, generators and alternators, starters, etc.); may rebuild defective units and parts and/or assist with major unit overhauls such as engines.
