  • REPORTS TO: Child Nutrition Supervisor.

  • JOB GOALS:

To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.

To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the school cafeteria for the ultimate health, comfort, and benefit of the students and staff.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and directs the preparation and serving of all food in the cafeteria.

  • Supervises the storage and care of foods and supplies.

  • Knows and follows nutritional guidelines.

  • Supervises and participates in the preparation and serving of food.

  • Oversees and participates in the cleaning of kitchen, serving, storage, and dining areas.

  • Assigns, directs, plans, and supervises the work of cafeteria employees.

  • Plans work schedules, and arranges for substitutes when required.

  • Instructs new cafeteria employees in performing their assigned tasks.

  • Evaluates the performance of cafeteria employees.

  • Orders necessary food and supplies in a timely manner.

  • Maintains a daily record of food served and used.

  • Maintains an inventory of all food and non-food items in the kitchen

  • Knows and follows health and sanitation procedures and requires all cafeteria employees to follow these procedures.

  • Inspects the kitchen, cooking and mixing utensils, and serving area for cleanliness and sanitary purposes.

  • Checks that all equipment in the cafeteria area is in safe, working condition and notifies the appropriate authority when repairs or replacements are needed.

  • Has regular and predictable attendance.

  • Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.

  • OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assumes responsibility for cash and reconciliation sheets.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a full-time position scheduled for 8 hours per day during the school year. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 6 - $17.63 or $18.53 (with a bachelors degree or 5 years relevant experience) per hour.

This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.

  • EVALUATION:

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Child Nutrition Supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.

This position has been given an overall physical classification of medium duty.
