Position Overview
The Goddard School of South Charlotte is seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Kitchen Manager / School Food Coordinator to support daily meal and snack service for our school.
This is not a traditional restaurant kitchen role. Our school does not operate a full commercial kitchen or cook large-scale meals from scratch. This position focuses primarily on meal warming, cold food preparation, snack preparation, fruit and vegetable prep, portioning, food safety, allergy awareness, inventory, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
This role is ideal for someone with food service, café, brunch, childcare, school cafeteria, meal prep, or kitchen support experience who enjoys a predictable weekday schedule and a calm, family-oriented school environment.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- Morning to early afternoon
- No nights
- No weekends
- Typical workday expected to finish around mid-afternoon, depending on school needs
Key Responsibilities
- Warm and prepare meals according to school procedures
- Prepare simple snacks, fruit, vegetables, and other cold-prep items
- Portion and organize meals and snacks for classrooms
- Follow allergy protocols and dietary restriction procedures carefully
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and food prep area
- Receive, label, store, and rotate food deliveries properly
- Track food inventory and communicate supply needs to school leadership
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and childcare food-service requirements
- Support smooth classroom meal and snack delivery
- Communicate clearly with teachers and leadership regarding meal needs, allergies, and daily routines

- Comfortable working around young children in a school environment
- Able to work independently once trained
Preferred Experience
- Food service, school kitchen, childcare kitchen, cafeteria, café, brunch, meal prep, or restaurant support experience
- Experience with food safety, sanitation, inventory, or portioning
- ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain certification
- Experience preparing food for children is a plus
