Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join one of our excellent clients. The Property Accountant will be responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties. This role will work closely with property managers and company leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, budget management, account reconciliations, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.

  • Perform month-end and year-end close activities.

  • Reconcile bank accounts, cash accounts, tenant receivables, and general ledger accounts.

  • Record journal entries and maintain accurate accounting records.

  • Review and post tenant billings, rent receipts, and operating expenses.

  • Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activities related to assigned properties.

  • Assist with annual budget preparation and periodic forecasting.

  • Analyze variances between actual results and budgets and provide explanations to management.

  • Track capital expenditures and construction-related costs as applicable.

  • Coordinate with property managers regarding financial performance, budgeting, and operational issues.

  • Support external audits, tax preparation, and lender reporting requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.

  • Assist with process improvements and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate, property management, construction, or commercial real estate.

  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting.

  • Experience managing multiple entities or properties simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of reconciliations, tenant billing, and lease accounting preferred.

  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Yardi

Pay Details: $32.00 to $38.00 per hour
