SOUS CHEF PRIVATE SOCIAL CLUB

Are you an experienced culinary professional who takes pride in quality, consistency, and working as part of a strong kitchen team? Presidio Golf & Concordia Club is looking for a Sous Chef who wants to grow in a professional, member-focused culinary environment while taking an active role in daily kitchen operations, food production, staffing, inventory, and special events.

Our Club offers a varied culinary operation with daily breakfast and lunch, approximately two dinner services per week, and a variety of member events, including plated dinners, buffets, banquets, receptions, and special functions.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Sous Chef works closely with the Executive Chef to support the daily operation of the Club's kitchen and ensure a consistently high-quality dining experience for our members and their guests.

This is a hands-on culinary leadership position. The ideal candidate is comfortable cooking and assisting with food production while also helping coordinate staff, maintain inventory, control portions and food costs, and ensure the kitchen operates efficiently.

The Sous Chef will also assist with kitchen operations when the Executive Chef is unavailable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Kitchen & Food Production

  • Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations.
  • Prepare and execute high-quality breakfast, lunch, dinner, and event menus.
  • Lead and participate in plated dinners, buffets, banquets, receptions, and special events.
  • Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, taste, temperature, and portion sizes.
  • Assist with menu preparation, recipes, daily specials, and food production.
  • Ensure proper food preparation, storage, labeling, and rotation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen.

Staff Leadership & Scheduling

  • Assist with kitchen staff scheduling and daily staffing assignments.
  • Coordinate kitchen staff and station responsibilities as directed by the Executive Chef.
  • Provide training, direction, and support to kitchen employees.
  • Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and a positive working environment.
  • Assist with kitchen operations and staff supervision when the Executive Chef is unavailable.

Inventory & Food Cost

  • Assist with food ordering, receiving, inventory, storage, and product rotation.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and communicate purchasing needs.
  • Monitor portion sizes, food usage, waste, and food costs.
  • Follow standardized recipes and portion guidelines.
  • Help minimize food waste and maintain efficient food production.

Technology & Administrative

  • Operate the Club's POS system and other kitchen/Club software.
  • Use scheduling, inventory, ordering, and other computer-based systems.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, production, and kitchen records.
  • Communicate effectively with the Executive Chef, Club management, service staff, and other departments.

Food Safety & Sanitation

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout the kitchen.
  • Follow all applicable federal, state, and local health and food-safety requirements.
  • Maintain proper food handling, temperature control, storage, and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain all required food-handler and food-safety certifications.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

  • 3+ years of professional culinary experience.
  • Previous Sous Chef, Lead Cook, or comparable kitchen leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of professional food preparation and cooking techniques.
  • Experience with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and banquet/event service.
  • Experience with both plated/sit-down meals and buffet service.
  • Knowledge of food portion control and food cost management.
  • Experience with inventory management and food ordering.
  • Experience with employee scheduling or coordinating kitchen staff.
  • Comfortable using POS systems, computers, scheduling software, and other technology.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Current food-handler/food-safety certifications required for the position.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and special events.

PRIVATE CLUB EXPERIENCE

Previous experience in a private club, country club, golf club, hotel, resort, or similar member-focused hospitality environment is strongly preferred.

However, we welcome candidates from high-quality restaurant and hospitality operations who demonstrate strong culinary, organizational, and leadership skills.

SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY

This is a full-time position with a schedule based on Club operations, member dining, and special events.

Must be available to work:

  • Weekends
  • Evenings/nights
  • Holidays
  • Special events and Club functions

The normal culinary operation includes daily breakfast and lunch, with approximately two evening dinner services per week.

Additional evening or weekend hours may be required for special events.

Flexibility, reliability, and a willingness to support the team when business needs change are essential.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

$65,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
