The Office of International Programs plays a pivotal role in the university's efforts to engage the world by providing guidance and resources that help identify GW's international priorities and expand educational opportunities abroad in all disciplines. We help bridge cultures, deepen understanding, facilitate international travel and partnerships, and connect the university community to the world beyond our campus.

Position Specific Summary

This position will assist the unit with projects including: Planning and logistical support for visiting international guests and delegations, including (but not limited to) reserving rooms, arranging for catering, and greeting guests; administrative support specifically in regards to timely processing of invoices, scholarship / deposit placements, and international insurance registrations; data entry and support for international travel registrations and high risk travel proposals; monitoring departmental email addresses; providing customer service for students, staff and faculty accessing the software systems owned by the department.

Standard Position Description

The student will serve as an administrative assistant and perform tasks to support the operations of the office or department with limited oversight while completing assignments, projects, and duties. Tasks may also include: lead and organize administrative functions for mid to large scale programs, projects, or events, serve as a key point of contact for departmental inquiries, assist in the management of department or program communications and data entry/reporting, and/or provide oversight and support for student staff and other administrative tasks. Special projects or duties may be assigned related to specific office needs.

Required Qualifications

Previous skills, training, or experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates are preferred to have experience in an office setting, particularly in customer service; strong sense of detail orientation; ability to work autonomously. Further it is preferred that candidates have experience with Microsoft Excel, and/or Banner, and/or TerraDotta, and/or SharePoint.
