The basic functions of this position are to perform chair-side duties which include seating the patient, taking and developing x-rays, assist the dentist or dental hygienist by aspirating fluids and handing instruments during treatment, clean and sterilize instruments and trays, set up operatory prior to treatment, and clean up operatory after treatment. Under close supervision from faculty dentists, dental residents or higher-level dental assistant, performs duties in support of dental office and operatory functions.
