So What (Exactly) is a Event Captain? ------------------------------------------ The Event Captain partners closely with the Event Producer and other internal HMC staff to bring clients' visions of all shapes and sizes to life. You'll do administrative tasks like ensuring you have the appropriate number of teammates to staff the event.  You'll send out emails and reminders to the staff.  You'll be the manager of the event the day of and partner with HMC teammates, vendor representatives, and relevant clients (e.g., mother of the bride) to execute a smooth, successful event.  You'll delegate tasks, multitask and problem solve. Maintaining a positive and professional attitude is paramount. From Day One, RMC's success has been built upon good people first.<h2>Position Details</h2><ul><li>Position Title: Events Staff</li><li>Employment Status: Part-Time Positions Available; Non-Exempt </li><li>Salary Range: Starting at $15/hr</li><li>Reports To: Account Manager</li><li>Location: RMC operates in several regional markets throughout Virginia including Richmond, Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, and Tidewater.</li></ul><h2>Position Summary and Location</h2>To provide a superior level of customer service to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for guests as they attend various events, including collegiate sporting events, concerts, festivals, and fairs. The position offers flexible, part-time hours that allow for the accommodation of each staff member's schedule.RMC operates in several regional markets throughout Virginia including Richmond, Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, and Tidewater.<h2>Job Duties</h2><ul><li>All Event Staff personnel will be cross-trained in multiple positions, including Ticket-Taker/Scanner, Usher, Bag Checker, Parking Attendant, and Crowd Management (post assignments will vary for each event).</li><li>Creating an enjoyable and safe experience for guests at any given event by providing a high level of customer service and implementing proper security protocol before, during, and in between ingress and egress.</li><li>Educating guests on safety policies using a positive and calm manner.</li><li>Observing your surroundings, detecting any suspicious or hazardous situations, and reporting your findings to event supervisors, managers, and emergency personnel.</li><li>Work flexible hours that include nights and weekends.</li></ul><h2>Physical Requirements</h2><ul><li>Capable of standing for long periods and lifting items weighing up to 20 pounds, as needed.</li><li>Repetitive movements are required.</li><li>Ability to stand, walk, climb & descend stairs, bend, squat, push, and pull frequently. Work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions as well as occasionally outdoors in weather conditions, including varying temperatures and weather conditions. Ability to convey information clearly and effectively.</li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Upon the successful competition of RMC's interview process, all new staff must register as Unarmed Security</li><li>Officer through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.</li><li>Excellent customer service mindset and verbal communication skills in English.</li><li>Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.</li><li>Must be able to work a minimum of 2 – 3 events per month.</li></ul><h2>Other Requirements</h2><ul><li>Must be at least 18 years of age.</li><li>Successfully complete the initial application process and required DCJS training course, provided by RMC Events.</li><li>Ability to interact cordially and communicate with a diverse community.</li><li>Ability to assess and react to all situations including emergencies quickly, accurately, and effectively.</li><li>Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the U.S.</li><li>Must submit to an extensive background check including criminal history (VA State Police & FBI fingerprints).</li><li>Must maintain a neat, clean, & well-groomed appearance.</li><li>Must have reliable transportation and always be punctual for assigned events</li><li>All employees are required to possess a fundamental proficiency in technology, such as using email, navigating scheduling software, and effectively utilizing tools like Zoom and MS Teams.</li></ul>RMC Events is an equal-opportunity employer and embraces diversity in our workforce.
